I have always been involved in caring for people and improving their quality of life. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a registered nurse in critical care, post-anesthesia recovery, ambulatory surgery, and cardiac catheterization staging (where patients prepare for and recover from this vital cardiac diagnostic test). During that time, I’ve found my greatest professional satisfaction has been in helping patients and their families learn more about achieving and maintaining their health, and in comforting patients during periods of what is often life-threatening illness or injury.

The idea for ResQpak began when I stopped on Florida’s Turnpike to help victims of an automobile accident. My friend, who was traveling with me, said she wouldn’t have known how to help. Although she had always PLANNED to take CPR, she never found the time. I told her although I knew what to do, I wondered if most people would remember everything in a totally unexpected emergency when the stress levels were high.

From that experience, I decided to create a kit that would hold protective items, such as gloves and a one-way breathing mask. I, too, had always PLANNED to carry these with me, but never took the time to put the kit together.

From this early seed germinated ResQpak. ResQpak not only provides you with protective devices to help you stay safe as you help others, it also has the information you need to provide meaningful care in a life-threatening cardiac situation.

This kit comes equipped with a professional training DVD which you can view at home before you need it, and covers the basics of CPR. It also features an “event” to prepare you in case of an emergency. It is not meant to take the place of a complete CPR training course, but is great for a review, or to provide basics to those of you who have not taken the classes YET! The ResQpak also includes a small CPR computer tutor that will talk you through the steps to assess your surroundings and whether the victim is in need of CPR, and will reduce your anxiety as it also talks you through the entire CPR process until professional help arrives. The kit also includes a small visual card with the basic ABC's of CPR.

In a life-threatening situation, seconds are vital to the victim, and your quick action and readiness with the ResQpak may save someone’s life.

REMEMBER: an unconscious, non-breathing, pulseless victim is clinically DEAD…and anything you can do to revive him or her is helpful not harmful.

ResQpak is designed to protect, educate, and reduce fears in an emergency situation. It is not a promise or guarantee that the victim will survive.
